DUI: What do you need to knoow?

Penalties:
Even a first time DWI conviction in New Jersey requires a mandatory suspension of 7 months, which the Court can increase up to one year.  There are no WORK LICENSES in New Jersey and driving while suspended requires a mandatory jail sentence of 10 to 180 days after a
DUI.  Second and third offense DUI's have mandatory jail time.  The law also requires a full 6 month jail term for a third or subsequent DUI.  DUI sentences also include fines and surcharges of roughly $4000 for a first
offense and greater amounts for subsequent offenses.

Time is of the essence:
New Jersey requires that DUI cases be resolved within 60 days of the issuance of the summons. Therefore, you must seek legal services as soon as possible in order to insure that your case is properly prepared when called for trial. The sooner you act, the better chance you have of mounting a defense.

What can be done:
No one can guarantee results.  But, we will order discovery, review it thoroughly and look for each and every avenue of defense.  Every case is different and time is of the essence.  For example, did you know that some
municipalities video tape every part of the testing procedure?  Some police cars are equipped to video tape what happens on the side of the road?  There is a difference between the old "breathalyzer" machine and the newer "Alco-test".  If there is a hole in the State's case, we'll find it, and if need be, we will TAKE THE CASE TO TRIAL!
