Mr. Hoffner graduated from Rutgers University
in 1995.  While there, he received numerous
honors and during his Senior year, received the
Richard A. Caulk Memorial Scholarship for
Excellence in History.  After taking some time off from schooling, Mr. Hoffner returned to Rutgers-Camden School of Law where he earned top marks in Constitutional Law, Criminal Procedure and Labor and Employment Law.

He graduated in the top third of his Law School class and passed both the New Jersey and Pennsylvania bars on his first attempt.  Mr. Hoffner also worked for both the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office and the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office.

Mr. Hoffner also had the honor of clerking for the Hon. Linda G. Baxter, (former P.J.Cr. of Camden County; now of the Appellate Division) during the highly publicized Fred Neulander murder trial.  While there, he gained invaluable experience with criminal defense, death penalty issues, change of venue and media management.  

Mr. Hoffner also spent time with two large firms where he honed both his trial and litigation skills.  With that experience, Mr. Hoffner founded his own firm in 2005, where he undertakes a diverse practice.  He now brings
more personal service to his old clients and dedicates his full energy to his new clients.  He is a member of the Camden County Bar Association and the Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers of New Jersey.

In terms of practice, Mr. Hoffner has tried 28 jury trials as of April 2010, winning many outright and good verdicts in the great majority of those cases.  Through hardwork and dedication, he has forged a good practice and an excellent reputation as a trial lawyer throughout Southern New Jersey.  He makes no bones about it, Chris Hoffner takes cases to trial.

Charges: Election Fraud, Second Degree, Conspiracy, Second Degree

Potential Sentence: 5-10 years

Outcome: After 5 and 1/2 months of trial, Client (and all co-defendants) Found Not Guilty

CASE #2

Charges: Murder First-degree, Weapons-Handgun Second-degree.

Potential Sentence: Life

Outcome: After nine days of trial, the case plead for   Manslaughter and a Seven-year term.

CASE #3

Charges: Second-degree Weapons-Handgun

Potential Sentence: 20 years state prison

Outcome: Jury verdict-NOT GUILTY

CASE #4

Charges: Possession of a Weapon-Second-degree, Possession of Narcotics with Intent to Distribute-Second Degree

Potential Sentence: 60 years state prison

Outcome:  Motion to Suppress

Chris also makes extensive use of motion practice in defending his clients.  He has won suppression motions, Miranda motions and other important evidentiary motions. Mr. Hoffner was also one of the first lawyers in New Jersey to pursue School Zone Reconsideration Motions

Mr. Hoffner has represented people involved in appeals as well.  Mr. Hoffner recently filed an appeal on behalf of a client who went to trial with another lawyer and lost.  Mr. Hoffner parsed the transcript and found errors, errors which could get that client's conviction over-turned.  In addition, Mr. Hoffner represented a young man who has come back on appeal.
